Crime Stoppers of Halton has unveiled a new regional campaign aimed at combating human trafficking across the Greater Golden Horseshoe, with a focus on protecting vulnerable individuals and bringing traffickers to justice.
In partnership with Crime Stoppers programs in Durham, Guelph-Wellington, Waterloo, and Niagara, the initiative offers a guaranteed $2,000 reward for anonymous tips that lead to the arrest of suspected traffickers.
Human trafficking involves the control and exploitation of individuals, often women, through forced labor or sexual exploitation. Victims are subjected to extreme physical, emotional, and mental abuse, frequently living in dehumanizing conditions.
“Human trafficking victims are often groomed for long periods of time and are difficult to detect,” says Colin Jessome, Executive Director of Crime Stoppers of Halton. “By sharing the signs and educating the public… we hope to shed some light, and completely remove this disgusting crime from all regions.”

The campaign is backed by several key law enforcement and government agencies, including HRPS, OPP, RCMP, CBSA, and MTO, with additional support from ONRoute, The Women’s Trucking Federation of Canada, and Loblaws Canada.
To report suspected trafficking activity, call 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or submit an anonymous tip online at www.haltoncrimestoppers.ca. Tipsters remain completely anonymous and never need to testify in court.
