Individuals are at greatest risk if they have not received two doses of vaccine. The risk for individuals who are fully immunized (with two doses of a vaccine) or born before 1970, is still considered very low.
WDG Public Health is encouraging children in the region to get vaccinated against measles earlier.
Children 6 months of age and older can receive their first dose. These children are still recommended to receive two doses after their first birthday to ensure longer-term protection.
Children who have received their first dose can receive their second dose as early as four weeks after their first.
