The Town of Milton is launching a new Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) program.
Starting Monday, March 3rd, the Town will have a new system that uses cameras mounted on Milton by-law vehicles to capture images of illegally parked or stopped vehicles that violate Town parking by-laws and impact community safety.
The LPR system will automatically issue tickets for parking violations. Tickets will be mailed to registered vehicle owners and will include details of the violation, an image of the vehicle and licence plate, along with instructions on how to pay or dispute the ticket.
Due to the delay between the infraction and mail delivery of a ticket, offenders who park in violation of by-laws on consecutive days may receive multiple tickets before being notified of the original infraction. Click here to learn more.
The LPR program will prioritize enforcement within school zones, within community safety zones, and for overnight, on-street parking restrictions.
You can pay parking tickets or penalty notices from the Town of Milton online or in person at Town Hall.
To dispute a parking ticket or penalty notice, you must submit a review request within 30 days of when the ticket or notice was issued. If you do not respond to the parking ticket or penalty notice by the due date — either by paying the penalty or scheduling an initial screening meeting — you automatically waive your right to a review and will need to pay an administrative fee.
