The Milton Menace are going into the holiday break on a win!
On Friday, December 20th, the Menace went into the Central Arena to take on the Burlington Cougars. The teams have been fairly even over the last few seasons, so it was likely to be a tough match-up once again for Milton.
The Cougars jumped on the board first, scoring within the first four minutes of the game. That was followed up with a quick goal from the Menace Captain, Graeme MacAuley. His 6th of the year was assisted by Ivan Fabjan and Alexandr Siletskiy. It didn’t take long after that for the Menace jumped out to a lead with Madden MacDougall netting his 11th of the year, assisted by Luke Johnston and Ashtyn Pacheco. Burlington would then answer back with two more goals of their own, taking a 3-2 lead into the first intermission.
In the second period, the Cougars began to run away with it. They scored three unanswered goals to give themselves a 6-2 lead after 40-minutes of action.
16-year-old Ryder Cali scored his 16th of the season, assisted by Marco Costante and MacDougall. Just a few minutes later, MacDougall continued his strong game, potting his 12th of the year and 2nd of the game. That made things close, but Burlington would put the final nail in the coffin late in the final frame to make it a 7-4 loss for Milton.
Carter Bickle started the game for the Menace, giving up 4 goals on 16 shots, giving him a lacklustre .750% save percentage. Austin McKillop wasn’t too much better, stopping 11 of 14 shots for a .785% save percentage.
Despite the loss ending their point streak, there was one last game for the Menace to get through before the break!
The team went into King to play the Rebellion on Sunday, December 22nd. It was the first game between the two teams since the Menace acquired goaltender Carter Bickle.
The first period was uneventful from a scoring standpoint, with the Menace outshooting the Rebellion 13-9.
In the second period, Ryder Cali buried his 17th of the season, assisted by Luke Johnston and Madden MacDougall. It was 1-0 heading into the second intermission.
Johnston put some space between the two teams in the third period, scoring his 15th of the year, assisted by Owen Kindree and Cole Semeniuk. Ivan Fabjan then netted his 10th of the year, assisted by Justin Dezoete and MacDougall. Milton would beat King 3-0.
It was Bickle who got the start in net. He stopped all 26 shots for the shutout win.
The Menace return home on Tuesday, January 7th. They take on the Mississauga Chargers after a nice holiday break. Game time at the Milton Memorial Arena will be at 7:00 p.m. Buy your tickets for any/all home games here.
