Christmas has been saved by the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) following the conclusion of Project Whoville.
The investigation was aimed at safeguarding the spirit of the holiday season. It led to the apprehension of a notorious suspect—the so-called “Christmas Grinch”—whose actions threatened the joy and unity of the Halton community.
Project Whoville was launched earlier this month following multiple reports of gifts disappearing mysteriously from homes across Halton.
After weeks of dedicated work by the HRPS, the Grinch was located and arrested during the early morning hours of Friday, December 20th.
Officers also executed a search warrant at a remote residence in the Halton Hills area, where the following items were seized:
- Hundreds of stolen holiday items, including gifts, ornaments, and Christmas trees
- Evidence suggesting elaborate plans to “steal Christmas” from the entire community
- A sled, believed to have been used to transport the stolen goods
“This investigation exemplifies the importance of community collaboration,” said HRPS Chief, Stephen Tanner, “thanks to vigilant residents and the tireless efforts of our officers, we have not only recovered stolen items but also restored the joy and hope of the holiday season for our community.”
