The Town of Halton Hills is notifying residents, businesses, and non-profits within Norval that they could be eligible for funding following this past summer’s flooding.
On July 15th and July 16th, the GTA was hit with a severe storm, which caused significant flooding throughout the area.
Last Friday, the Ontario government announced the activation of the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians (DRAO) program to support communities in designated areas.
The DRAO program, administered by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH) provides financial assistance to individuals, small owner-operated businesses, farmers and not-for-profit organizations after a natural disaster. It’s not funded or run by the Town.
In Halton Hills, the province has identified specific areas in Norval as potentially eligible to apply for funding.
Halton Hills Mayor Ann Lawlor noted the importance of the partnership between the municipality, Halton Region and the province.
“Good government occurs when all levels work together for the betterment of its residents. On behalf of our Norval residents, I am very thankful to the province for the release of their DRAO program and to our Regional partners for their continued support.”
