Do you have a Milton Public Library (MPL) card? You can now visit the Guelph Public Library as well!
The MPL has expanded its reciprocal borrowing program to now include Guelph. This allows library cardholders from both systems to enjoy borrowing privileges at any of their locations by no longer having to pay the non-resident fee to join.
“We’re delighted to broaden our reciprocal borrowing network,” says Sarah Douglas-Murray, CEO & Chief Librarian, Milton Public Library. “This initiative underscores our commitment to enhancing resource accessibility and supporting our community’s educational and recreational needs, especially as families continue to feel the pressures of today’s economy.”
With this latest addition, Milton Public Library cardholders can access an even wider selection of materials and services at Guelph Public Library. MPL already offers reciprocal borrowing privileges with Halton Public Libraries (Halton Hills, Oakville, and Burlington), Hamilton Public Library, and Wellington County Library, enabling MPL cardholders to borrow items such as books, DVDs, electronic games, frequent flyer books, sports equipment, park passes, gaming consoles, and more from these partner libraries.
“The Guelph Public Library is excited to support reciprocal borrowing in this partnership with Milton Public Library,” says Dan Atkins, acting CEO of Guelph Public Library. “By enabling our members to borrow materials from other libraries without additional membership fees, we expand opportunities for discovery, learning, and connection. This collaboration reflects our commitment to providing seamless access to information and to empowering our communities with a diverse range of resources.”
Residents of Halton Hills (Acton, Georgetown, and rural areas), Oakville, Burlington, or Wellington County can obtain a free Milton Public Library card by presenting their library card from their home library, along with proof of name and address, at any MPL branch. This provides them with full access to MPL’s collections and services.
