The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has provided an update on Friday afternoon’s armed robbery.
On Friday, March 15th, at roughly 3:30 p.m., two suspects stole money from the Royal Bank at 3030 Mainway in Burlington. They were eventually tracked down and arrested by the HRPS.
We now have the details of the investigation.
37-year-old Michael Uzelac of Welland has been charged with the following:
- Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm
- Armed Robbery Using a Firearm
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
54-year-old Stephane Smith of Niagara Falls has been charged with the following:
- Armed Robbery Using a Firearm
- Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
- Pointing a Firearm
- Firearm – Use While Committing an Offence
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
Both accused have been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Two people have been arrested following an armed robbery at a Burlington bank.
On Friday, March 15th, at roughly 3:30 p.m., Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) officers were called to the Royal Bank at 3030 Mainway in Burlington.
Two suspects fled the area in a vehicle following a bank robbery. They were located by police a short distance away. One suspect was immediately taken into custody; however, the second suspect remained in the vehicle and in possession of a firearm. Police began negotiations, which were successful. The second suspect was taken into custody.
The HRPS say an update will be provided upon completion of the investigation.
