The Milton Menace are one game closer to advancing to the second round of the OJHL playoffs.
On Wednesday, March 13th, the Menace welcomed in the Burlington Cougars to the Milton Memorial Arena for game three of their first round match-up.
It was all Burlington early on. They jumped out to a 2-0 lead roughly five minutes into the game. At the 14:13 mark, Madden MacDougall got the Menace on the board, scoring his 1st of the playoffs with help from Justin O’Donnell and Aidan Puley. Two minutes later, Nicholas Wereha continued his hot start to the postseason, burying his 3rd goal. It was assisted by Tristan Tremble and Owen Kindree. The teams went into the first intermission tied 2-2.
In the second period, Sett Ursomarzo helped Milton take the lead, scoring his 1st goal with help from Johnathon Mead and Alessandro Petreccia. Shortly after, Captain Connor Driscoll got in on the fun. His 1st goal was assisted by Joseph Macchione and Isaac Barrett. The Cougars would get one back, but an unassisted goal from Ursomarzo cancelled that out. Before the end of the frame, Markus Hicks made it a three-goal game. Driscoll and Ivan Fabjan were credited with assists. Milton led 6-3 after 40-minutes of action.
Burlington would score twice in the third period, but couldn’t quite catch up. Milton beat the Cougars 6-5.
In net for the Menace was Forbes Andersen. He stopped 34 of 39 shots for an .871% save percentage.
Game four of the seven-game series is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 15th at the Central Arena in Burlington. If the Menace win, they advance to the second round. If they lose, game five would take place on Sunday, March 17th at the Milton Memorial Arena.
