
An OPP officer was involved in short car chase on Wednesday (sept13) afternoon after a vehicle sped off.
A Dufferin OPP officer using an Automated Licence Plate Recognition device in Mono attempted a stop after noticing the driver was suspended.
The driver of the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed along Highway 10, but lost control, ending up in a ditch on its side.
The driver then took off on foot.
The officer took off after him and managed to make an arrest…during which a loaded handgun was discovered in a small bag over the mans shoulder.
A further search turned up over $7-thousand dollars in cash and a quantity of drugs including cocaine, fentanyl and Marihuana.
A 21-year-old, North York resident is facing 12 weapon and drug related charges.
