It’s put up or shut up time for the Milton Menace.
The local Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) team finds themselves down 2-0 in the seven-game second-round playoff match-up against the Collingwood Blues. Let’s breakdown a rough weekend for our boys in grey and black.
Game one was on Friday, March 24th. The Menace went up to the Eddie Bush Arena to take on the best team in the North/West Conference. The game started off well for Milton, with star player Aidan Hughes opening the scoring at the 9:49 mark in the first period with a powerplay goal. It was assisted Jared Coccimiglio and Myles Perry. Unfortunately, that was the lone highlight for the Menace, as the Blues would score six unanswered goals throughout the rest of the game:
| Period 1 | |
| Collingwood – Bryce Sutherland (Ayden Dooley, Robert Strachan) 18:20 | |
| Period 2 | |
| Collingwood – Luke Tchor (Ethan Broderick, Bryce Sutherland) 12:46 Collingwood – Luke Tchor (Mark McIntosh, Robert Strachan) 19:11 Collingwood – Ikki Kogawa (Owen Sclisizzi, Marcus Lougheed) 19:46 |

In net for Milton was Forbes Anderson. He faced all 32 shots, stopping 26, giving him an .812% save percentage.
The 6-1 drubbing gave the Blues the 1-0 series lead.
Game two of the series was on Sunday, March 27th at the Milton Memorial Arena.
This game was a lot tighter than Friday’s game. The scoring started in the first period with Cam Garvey netting another goal for the Blues. The first period would close with Collingwood leading 1-0.
The second frame looked like it could have gone the way of game one, with the Blues jumping out to a 3-0 lead before the ten minute mark. The Menace would get a goal back with Bradley Banach getting one on the board. It was assisted by Nicholas Wereha. The Blues led 3-1 after 40-minutes of action.
Justin O’Donnell then made it close with a third period goal, assisted by Myles Perry. That kept the Menace in the game until Dylan Hudon buried the dagger, giving the Blues the 4-2 win on Sunday night.
Will Goumas had a better night at stopping the puck, with 28 saves on 32 shots. That gave him an .875% save percentage.
Game three of the second-round series between the Milton Menace and Collingwood Blues will be on Monday, March 27th. Puck-drop at the Eddie Bush Arena will be at 7:00 p.m.
