The Milton Menace have a pep in their step coming out of this past weekend.
The team had two games, one on Friday, November 25th and one on Sunday, November 27th. Friday’s game saw them take on the Aurora Tigers at home at the Milton Memorial Arena. The Madhouse was rocking as the scored just 21 seconds into the first period. Myles Perry scored, with assists from Lucas Buzziol and Aidan Hughes. The rest of the period would be scoreless, meaning Milton would go into the second period with a 1-0 lead.
In the second, Hughes scored a goal of his own on the powerplay at the 4:12 mark. This was assisted by Buzziol and the newly re-acquired Alessandro Petreccia. It’d be 2-0 after 40-minutes of action.
The third period was all about battening down the hatches, as the Menace tried to stave off any sort of a comeback by the Tigers. Aurora would get one goal at the 16:36 mark, but that’d be all. Milton would win 2-1.
In net for the Menace was the returning Forbes Anderson. The 6’2″ tall, now-19-year-old goaltender has been off and on with the Menace since their inaugural season. Anderson stopped 38 of 39 shots, literally saving the game with his .974% save percentage.
The Menace then welcomed in one of their Halton-rivals, the Burlington Cougars.
The second home game of the weekend also started off strong for Milton, as star-forward Aidan Hughes opened the scoring 1:23 into the game. That was assisted by Lucas Buzziol and Cole Semeniuk. Thomas Gordon would then score Milton less than three minutes later, with help from Hughes and Myles Perry. It’d be 2-0 after 20-minutes of play.
Just over two minutes into the second period, the new guy, Jared Coccimiglio would send one into the net. His goal was assisted by Cory Liu. Then, at the 14:55 mark, Ivan Fabjan would score a goal, assisted by Tristan Tremble and Alessandro Petreccia. The Cougars would get a goal back, making it 4-1 after two periods.
The third period would go almost entirely scoreless before Burlington scored 15-minutes in. Myles Perry then scored an empty net goal, assisted by Buzziol and Hughes. The Menace would win 5-2.
In net for this second game was Will Goumas. The Menace netminder faced a whopping 42 shots, stopping 40 of them. That gave him a .952% save percentage for the night.
The pair of wins this weekend were big for the Menace as they managed to leapfrog the Cougars in the North/West Conference standings, and tie the Collingwood Blues for first. Granted, Milton has played three more games than the Blues. The Menace have a record of 19-5-1-2 over 27 games, good for 41 points.
The Menace will have the work week off before hosting the Cobourg Cougars on Friday, December 2nd. Puck drop at the Madhouse will be at 7:30 p.m. Milton Menace home tickets for this OJHL season can be foundĀ here.
