We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were seven cases across Halton last weekend. Two of them involved Milton:
On Friday, September 23rd, Halton Regional Police Service officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of McCraney Street and Sewell Drive in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 53-year-old Oakville man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Friday, September 23rd, Halton Regional Police Service officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. initiative in the area of Plains Road East and Waterdown Road in Burlington. As a result of this initiative, a 36-year-old Hamilton man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, September 24th, Halton Regional Police Service officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Guelph Street and Mountainview Road in Georgetown. As a result of an investigation, a 54-year-old Georgetown man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, September 25th, Halton Regional Police Service officers responded to a collision in the area of Twiss Road and No 8 Side Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 26-year-old Oakville man was charged with operation while impaired and failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Sunday, September 25th, Halton Regional Police Service officers responded to a collision in the area of Commercial Street and Parkway Drive in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 20-year-old Guelph man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, September 25th, Halton Regional Police Service officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Commercial Street and Williams Avenue in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 27-year-old Etobicoke man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, September 25th, Halton Regional Police Service officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Ontario Street and Nelson Street in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 32-year-old Mississauga man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
