We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were six cases across Halton last week. One of them involved Milton:
On Monday, September 19th, Halton Regional Police Service officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Appleby Line and Upper Middle Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 30-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Wednesday, September 21st, Halton Regional Police Service officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Dundas Street and Eighth Line in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 35-year-old Oakville man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, September 21st, Halton Regional Police Service officers responded to a collision in the area of Highway 7 and 6th Line in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 25-year-old Brampton man was charged with impaired operation cause bodily harm and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Friday, September 23rd, Halton Regional Police Service officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. initiative in the area of James Snow Parkway and Main Street East in Milton. As a result of this initiative, a 37-year-old Milton man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Friday, September 23rd, Halton Regional Police Service officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Coldstream Drive and Duncaster Drive in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 45-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Friday, September 23rd, Halton Regional Police Service officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Drury Lane and Prospect Street in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 54-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
