
Dufferin County has announced the appointment of Rohan Thompson to the position of Director of People & Equity.
In this newly created role, Thompson will drive the County’s DEI strategy, policies and programs, and ensure DEI are intentionally embedded into all aspects of governance, administration and service delivery.
He will also oversee core HR areas including recruitment, learning and development, performance management and employee relations.
FM101 spoke with Rohan about his new role here in Dufferin County.
What drew you to Dufferin County and what can our community expect from our newly appointed Director of People & Equity?
Why is Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion so important to municipal organizations?
As a member of the County’s Senior Leadership Team, Thompson brings over 15 years of public sector work experience with a focus on community engagement, equity, policy analysis and program development.
Most recently, he served as Manager of Workplace Equity and Assistant Director of Equity & Community Partnerships at Peel District School Board.
Thompson’s passion for DEI extends to his community involvement.
He currently serves on the board of directors for North York Community House and supports the organization’s new Canadian settlement programs.
Thompson earned a master’s degree in Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a huge football fan.
