Milton MPP Parm Gill and the Ontario Government have announced a school expansion.
On Tuesday morning, MPP Gill announced that more funding for a new school in Milton has been made available, allowing for the expansion of a previous plan. During the virtual press conference, MPP Gill says St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Secondary School will now have more space.
He adds that this expansion will provide choice and flexibility for local families.
Since 2018, the Ford Government has announced six new schools and three expansions in Milton. MPP Gill teased more good news in this area to come. He discusses the financial decisions made for education the last four years.
The Education Minister for Ontario, Stephen Lecce, was a part of the press conference. He says growth in education has been a commitment by the provincial government since day one.
Minister Lecce says the continued investments in education will allow children to learn in a brick and mortar school. He stresses that Ontario schools need to be modern, accessible, and well-ventilated with proper internet connection.
The school has yet to start construction. Chair of the Halton Catholic School Board and Milton Trustee Marvin Duarte says the plan is to expect the school to be available for students within the next two-three years.
The school will be located at Louis St. Laurent Avenue and Kennedy Circle East in the southeast part of Milton (Ward 3).
