Four Halton residents have reportedly died from COVID-19, including a Milton resident.
The latest COVID-19 stats from the Halton Region show four additional deaths in the totals. Three of the deaths appear to have been Oakville residents, giving the town now 72 deaths. The fourth death is a Milton resident, giving our town 49 deaths total. Burlington remains at 71 and Halton Hills at 58. Halton is now at 250 deaths total from COVID-19.
Across Halton, there are 836 new cases today. The total number of cases is up to 32,522. With 28,121 resolved cases and 250 deaths, Halton is at 4151 active cases, 99 less than Thursday. The Region says that of the 32,522 total cases, 31,742 were confirmed positive while 780 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have 214 new cases. That brings us to 9225 total cases. With 8218 resolved cases and 49 deaths, Milton is at 958 active cases, 33 less than Thursday’s update. The Region says that of the 9225 total cases, 8956 were confirmed positive while 269 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is reporting variant case totals. It says that 11,825 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 3447 total variant cases.
An outbreak has been declared at a congregate living facility. It is labelled only as ‘Congregate Living – 80’ on the Halton Region outbreak webpage. There are 111 cases being reported – 43 are non-Halton cases, 64 are residents, two are staff cases, and two unspecified. It was first declared on Thursday, November 4th.
Another outbreak is now at the Seasons Milton Retirement Communities. It was first declared on Wednesday, January 5th. There is just one case currently being reported – it is a staff member. We’ll update you should more cases be made public.
Halton currently has 54 hospitalized residents. Nine of them are from Milton.
Looking at vaccination numbers, a total of 1,093,656 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 972,972 of the doses were to Halton residents.
464,695 second doses have been administered in Halton. 412,889 of those have been Halton residents.
154,569 additional doses have been administered in Halton. 133,266 of those have been Halton residents.

- 13,927 first doses, 10,172 second doses and 7031 additional doses have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
- 373,098 first doses, 342,321 second doses and 64,017 additional doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.
