In April of 2020, approximately half of the earth’s population was under some form of lockdown.
Today, six days into 2022, we find ourselves in a similar position.
Yesterday the Ontario Government implemented new restrictions based on the modified step two of the Roadmap to Reopen.
All non-urgent surgeries have been paused in Ontario, as the number of Covid-19 patients in hospital continues to rise.
FM101 spoke with Orangeville Mayor Sandy Brown, to talk about the effects the restrictions have had our community.
Mayor Brown continued by wishing everyone a safe and Happy New Year, as we look forward to the next few weeks where hopefully restrictions will loosen once again.
WDG Public Health has updated eligibility for drop-ins to local vaccination clinics after receiving additional direction from the Province, they are as follows:
- Children ages 5-11 for first or second dose (minimum of 21-day interval between doses, children must be at least 5 years old at the time of vaccination)
- Residents 12+ for a first or second dose
- Adults age 68 and older for a booster dose
- School staff and teachers for a booster dose
- Child care educators and staff (including unlicensed care providers) for a booster dose
Remaining residents between the ages of 18 and 67 must have a scheduled appointment to receive a booster dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
There are 13,339 new cases of Covid-19 in Ontario today.
2,279 people are hospitalized, 319 of which are in ICU.
The Alder Rec Centre will host a vaccination walk in clinic tomorrow, from 9:30 AM to 3 PM.
