Ontario officials will meet with the Federal government today, to try and work out a fair deal on a new Federal child care plan.
Ontario’s education minister Stephen Leece, has said the current deal that has been offered would not see fees reduced to ten dollars a day.
So far, nine provinces and territories across Canada, have already signed a deal with Ottawa on the 30-billion-dollar, five-year child-care plan.
“Access to child care is as much an economic policy as it is a social policy. Not only does it give our children the best possible start in life, it ensures that parents – especially mothers – can work, and it creates good, well-paying jobs for educators. It is an essential part of our plan to make sure Canada has a strong recovery that leaves no one behind.”said the Hon. Chrystia Freeland, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.
