Royal LePage Realty fired an Orangeville realtor for his tweets that called for teachers to lose their jobs.
On Sunday (Apr. 4) David Burleigh issued a tweet targeting teachers that read, “I can’t wait for half of you to lose your jobs permanently. Maybe my taxes will go down. Remember one teacher in person 25 kids. One teacher online 250 kids. Nine teachers out of a job. Yasss!!”
This week, the real estate franchise announced Burleigh’s termination and said it stands by teachers.
“Royal LePage is supportive of teachers and the wonderful work they do nationwide, especially during COVID-19. His comments do not reflect our brand.”
Burleigh’s twitter account has been deactivated.
