Streams Community Hub has received its first major donation.
Markham-based developer, Flato Developments Inc. has donated $100,000 towards Streams’ grand vision of building a community arts centre, using shipping containers, in Shelburne.
Streams president and co-founder, Juli-Anne James says Shelburne deputy mayor Steve Anderson introduced her to Flato president, Shakir Rehmatullah who she says didn’t take much convincing to make a donation.
Streams is currently in the running to receive a TD Ready Commitment grant for $500,000 over 3 years that will be used to expand its existing services of season art programs to year-round art programs until its grand vision is achieved.
