Headwaters Health Care Centre gave Shelburne’s mayor and deputy mayor some accolades for their response to the COVID-19 crisis.
Mayor Wade Mills and deputy mayor, Steve Anderson were given the Chair’s Award for their contributions to the Long Term Care Response Team and supporting the hospital’s communications with the community.
Between Shelburne’s two long term care facilities, Dufferin Oaks Long Term Care Home and Shelburne Residence, the town was plagued with the most COVID-related deaths in all of Dufferin County.
Anderson says he’s honoured to be recognized and says it’s during trying times when a leader truly earns his or her stripes.
And while Anderson sees the light at the end of the tunnel, he encourages the community to continue doing its part to stop the spread of COVID-19.
