Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health’s order isn’t going away even though Dufferin is permitted to enter into phase 3 of the province’s reopening strategy.
Last month Public Health ordered all those in indoor commercial spaces to wear face coverings.
That means starting Friday, face coverings will be mandatory within indoor dining spaces, in gyms and movie theatres.
However, the health agency clarifies the order doesn’t apply while people are eating or exercising.
The order exempts children under 2 years of age or of 5 years who have cognitive disabilities are exempted from the order.
Face coverings are also not applicable if they prevent a person’s ability to breathe or for any medical reasons.
Medical officer of health, Nicola Mercer says “Moving to Stage 3 is a positive sign that we are making progress against this virus. But, it doesn’t mean the pandemic is over. We must continue to balance health protection with economic progress in order to continue moving forward together.”
