After a total death toll of 21 at Shelburne Residence has been cleared of its COVID-19 outbreak.
Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health issued the announcement this afternoon.
Shelburne Residence saw the most COVID-19 cases out of all of Dufferin’s long term care facilities with a total of 85 cases (29 among staff and 56 among residents).
And Shelburne mayor Wade Mills took a break from the somber news he says he’s often had to deliver since the beginning of the pandemic, to celebrate the uplifting news.
But Mills reminds residents that a closed outbreak doesn’t indicate the situation at Shelburne Residence is no less dire, he says it means it’s under control.
Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health declares an outbreak as over 14 days after symptoms began in the most recent case and when no other cases are suspect.
