The COVID-19 outbreak at Headwaters Health Care Centre is now over.
Headwaters first declared the outbreak on March 31st when a COVID-19 positive patient arrived to the hospital.
Around the same time, 5 staff members were also diagnosed with the virus, however the hospital says those cases were unrelated to the initial patient case.
Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health describes an outbreak as ‘one or more confirmed cases of COVID-19 within a facility (long-term care home, retirement home or hospital). It is declared over 14 days after symptoms began in the most recent case and when no other cases are suspect’.
A total of 18 staff members and 15 patients have tested positive.
Currently, 10 staff members and 3 inpatients have the virus.
