The number of COVID-19 cases at Shelburne Residence grows but not in Dufferin Oaks Long Term Care Home.
Shelburne Residence’s cases rose yesterday from a total of 27 and to 33 cases today.
However, Dufferin Oaks case count remained the same today as yesterday at a total of 9.
Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health spokesperson, Chuck Ferguson couldn’t explain the discrepancy at the two long term facilities.
As of 3pm today, Public Health reports 27 patients at Shelburne Residence tested positive, and another 6 staffers did as well.
Ferguson says WDG Public Health is working closely with both Dufferin facilities and both are cooperating.
He also says there is not a difference in testing volumes at the facilities and assures they’re both thoroughly tested.
According to Ferguson, Headwaters Health Care Centre staff have been redeployed to both facilities for further aid.
So far 6 people died in Dufferin County’s nursing homes, but the death toll has remained the same since Wednesday.
