Annoying and obnoxious maybe, but also illegal.
Caledon OPP recently charged the owner of a car with a souped up muffler in Belfountain with unnecessary noise and improper muffler charges.
Constable Ian Michaels says officers heard the tuned muffler enter the hamlet before they even saw the car.
Officers don’t need a decibel reading as evidence to lay these kind of charges.
Michaels says officers are able to lay these charges anywhere but Belfountain is a high-complaint area given its high traffic volume and its small, hamlet size.
He adds police won’t only charge motorists who intentionally tuned their muffler for amplified noise, cops will also issues tickets for noisy busted mufflers too.
