Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health is reporting an increase in its jurisdiction’s COVID-19 cases, including a modest increase in Dufferin County.
Public Health says there is a total number of 122 cases in the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph area, a 6-case increase reported since yesterday.
Meanwhile, Dufferin’s caseload has risen to by 1 since yesterday, bringing the total to 38.
But that doesn’t mean we’re flattening the curve.
Public health spokesperson, Danny Williamson explains it’s still too premature to tell if social distancing is making an impact because laboratories were catching up on thousands of pending tests last week, so a large number of test results were released to public health units over the weekend.
He went on to say “This is likely to have been an artifact that makes it look as though the number of reported cases slowed down after all of those test results had been entered.”
Williamson says in the coming weeks, public health will be looking to see if there is a flattening trend happening.
Guelph has three new cases set at a total of 59, and Wellington County has two new cases since yesterday, totalling at 19.
