An individual in their 80’s is dead as a result of COVID-19 complications.
Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health made the announcement on Thursday (Apr. 2) at 2:40 pm.
The deceased died in Guelph and public health will not divulge more information out of respect for the individual’s family.
In a release, Medical officer of health, Dr. Nicola Mercer says “I am sorry we have such a tragic reminder of how dangerous COVID-19 is and how much we all need to take measures such as social distancing and staying home while finding other ways to support each other and our communities.”
As of April 2, 9:20 a.m., Public Health reports a total of 48 coronavirus cases: 7 in Wellington County, 15 in Dufferin County and 25 in Guelph.
Eight cases are now resolved.
