A day after a Dufferin Oaks Long Term Care Home staff member tested positive with COVID-19, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health informed Dufferin Oaks another staffer also has coronavirus.
Last week, Dufferin Oaks directed staff who didn’t feel well, to not report to work.
Both Dufferin Oaks workers have not been onsite since first exhibiting symptoms.
Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health and Dufferin Oaks are trying to identify long term care residents or other staff who may have been in close contact with affected members.
None of the facility’s residents are showing COVID-19 symptoms and staff continue to monitor them.
Aside from isolating residents in the impacted units, Dufferin Oaks is also doing temperature checks of all staff and residents, and directing all staff to wear surgical masks throughout the day.
Families of residents in self-isolation are being contacted to update them of these new measures and to provide support and answer questions.
