Michael Sklad recently packed his bags and left his day job to turn his part-time gig into a full-time reality.
The local angler founded Fishing Friendzy, a youth fishing league where he teaches kids all about fishing at Island Lake Conservation Area.
Sklad says fishing and environmental advocacy go hand-in-hand.
He says he wanted to introduce children to the angling sport because there isn’t a lot of opportunity for them to partake in an extracurricular activity that isn’t too structured and is outdoors.
