Parliament resumes today (Dec. 5) for its 43rd session — starting with a throne speech.
The speech written by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s office, will be read this afternoon by Governor General Julie Payette in the Senate chamber.
The Canadian Press reports that the speech is expected to highlight action to combat climate change, tax breaks for the middle-class, pharmacare and stricter gun control.
Kyle Seeback is returning to Ottawa as the new Conservative MP for Dufferin-Caledon. He last sat as an MP for Brampton West from 2011-2015.
Seeback is excited to get back to the capital, but says he’s disappointed that the Liberals didn’t recall parliament sooner.
Seeback tells myFM News that he is ready to hold the Liberal minority government to account.
Asked about the criticism his party leader Andrew Scheer has faced since the October election, Seeback says he doesn’t think infighting is helpful or productive.
