The Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) says all schools and offices will be open on Monday (Oct. 7) despite a looming strike by CUPE members.
CUPE, who represents nearly 300 local custodial and maintenance staff and English as a second language teachers within the UGDSB, says its members will go on strike starting Monday.
The school board anticipates the strike will have an impact on schools, including possible picket lines affecting traffic and bus delays.
All community use of schools will be cancelled as of Monday. Commencement ceremonies at various secondary schools will go ahead as scheduled.
Here’s what some parents are saying about the potential strike.
CUPE plans to return to the bargaining table with the province on Friday in efforts to head off a strike.
