Georgian College has announced new programming to fill the void that will be left by Humber College’s departure in Orangeville.
Following Humber’s announcement on Wednesday (Sept. 25) that it will close its campus in Orangeville, Georgian confirmed it would introduce an Early Childhood Education program and Social Service Worker program at its Orangeville campus.
The two-year diploma programs will start in September 2020.
Georgian College currently has more than 50 staff, faculty and administrators working full and part-time at the Orangeville campus, Career and Employment Community Services at the Edelbrock Centre, and outreach office in the Mel Lloyd Centre in Shelburne.
According to a 2018 study, the students and alumni at Georgian’s Orangeville campus added 5.6 million dollars in income to Orangeville’s economy, which equated to the support of 69 local jobs in 2016-17.
