If you’ve walked in Orangeville’s downtown this week you may have noticed boxes covering the pedestrian walk buttons at two intersections.
According to the town, the pedestrian signals at Broadway and Second Street and at Broadway and Dawson Road are being upgraded.
Orangeville is installing accessible pedestrian signals at those intersections.
The upgrades are part of a multi-year program to ensure traffic signals are upgraded to current regulations and are maintained in accordance with municipal and provincial requirements.
A contractor has started removing the old equipment in preparation for the required upgrades. However, the bulk of the work is expected to start the week of September 23 and take approximately two weeks to complete.
