“Choose Forward”. That’s what the federal Liberals are pledging to voters ahead of the federal election.
Federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau joined Dufferin-Caledon Liberal candidate Michele Fisher in the riding on Tuesday (Aug. 27), and expanded on that new Liberal campaign slogan, while speaking with local business owners and constituents to learn about key issues in the area.
Morneau says that while unemployment levels are at a record low, finding skilled workers continues to be a challenge, which is why the Liberals will continue to fill those gaps if re-elected.
Morneau says a Liberal government means Canadians can look to the future confidently, knowing that there will be investments made in key areas such as rural high speed internet and mental health.
Morneau adds that he’s worried that a Conservative government under Andrew Scheer will bring the same cuts Ontario is currently seeing under the Ford government.
Morneau also used his visit to endorse Fisher’s candidacy by speaking to her business background and community involvement.
He touted Fisher as the ideal candidate to continue the Liberals’ promise of investing in Canadians and says the choice is obvious for Dufferin-Caledon voters.
Fisher says Morneau’s visit to Dufferin-Caledon shows that Ottawa is listening to our area, and pledged to be a strong voice as an MP.
The federal election is October 21.
