Local Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) members have selected former MP Kyle Seeback as the candidate for Dufferin-Caledon.
Seeback, who sat as MP for Brampton West from 2011-2015, says his ties to the riding are strong.
Seeback beat former Caledon councillor Barb Shaughnessy, former Orangeville mayor Jeremy Williams and Gurminder Gill.
Sources tell myFM News that Shaughnessy finished second in votes, followed by Gill and Williams.
Shaughnessy says she will support Seeback going into the fall federal election.
Wednesday’s (July 31) nomination meeting was the second held by the Dufferin-Caledon CPC Riding Association. Harzadan Singh Khattra won the first vote in March, but it was appealed by Shaughnessy.
Shaughnessy alleged Khattra of identity and residence tampering, membership reimbursement, and payments to foreign students for attending the meeting.
Khattra was removed as the candidate by the party in April, prompting a new nomination vote.
Shaughnessy hopes the voting process changes.
The federal election is slated for October 21.
